For a poodle, I would say you spend 1/2 your life sleeping, and 1/2 your life on da "Table." My mom use to groom me, I remember she bought a purple grooming table from some dog site, and at 6 months of age, I was taller than her and she had to stand on a chair to reach me. The grooming table did go up and down, but that's another story.
So our experiences --- I like groomers that give me breaks. Some stores by law can't bring a poodle out for potty breaks, so that didn't work well wif my mama. Therefore she doesn't take me to those stores anymore.
When we found some good groomers, they tend to move on or really move on which was the case for our favorite one, who moved to a different town.
France is something for grooming standards... My groomer in Mougins (Near Nice, France) was good but she specialized in Chihuahuas. Yep, the little ones. And here I walk in all 80 lbs of glory and royalty and well, it took her a while to figure me out. It cost my mom 120 euros each time, so then my mama got all geared up and started grooming me herself. she was taught in Seattle how to do "Poodle Feet" but well, the whole body thing is not her forte. I think she should just stick to painting dogs.
So yesterday we were given a great tip and I went to see this new groomer. She was very nice and had poodles. Indeed, she is owned by 3 standard poodles. These 2 in the pictures are litter mates and are 8 months old. Boy did I have fun and they sorta wore me out. I hope to go back there. So here is the results, I'm shaved naked at $70. I think $70 is standard for this area. Most shops charge about 60-65, but this lady is very nice and lets met pee and gives me breaks and of course I feel comfortable there because she has pawsons that look like me.
Who grooms out there? What is your favorite equipment? How much does it cost you for a groom, shaved naked?
